Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno has expressed optimism that the security challenges facing the country would be overcome with the commitment of the Armed Forces towards improving the welfare of their personnel.

Speaking while laying the foundation for the Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers, AHOOAS, in Nsit Atai and Uruan Local Government Areas, as the army rounded off the second and third Chief Of Army Staff Conference in Uyo, Governor Eno commended the military for the gesture.

Represented by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Udom, the governor commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Taoreed Lagbaja, for his dedication to the welfare of troops, while expressing delight to be part of such a landmark initiative.

He lauded General Lagbaja for his commitment in ensuring that soldiers not only have access to decent living conditions, but also the opportunity to own their homes.

He emphasised the significance of the AHOOAS project in boosting the morale and well-being of troops, stressing that “it is essential for maintaining a strong and effective military force,” as housing is a critical focal point of his administration.

Responding, General Lagbaja reiterated the importance of the project as part of his broader strategy to enhance the quality of life of Nigerian Army personnel.
