Spokesperson of Yobe State Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, has confirmed the killing of three members of Shi’a during an attack by suspected members of Boko Haram in Gaidam Local Government Area.
Suspected insurgents launched an attack on Faudiya School in Geidam town.
A credible source who spoke to AljazirahNigeria said the attacker, who stormed Hausari quarters in Geidam Local Government Area, killed three persons at about 3:44am yesterday.
A member of the Islamic movement, Mallam Mahadi Ibrahim, said the insurgents stormed the town and attacked institution, belonging to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, a prominent Shia sect in the country.
Mahadi confirmed that the attackers struck while the students were asleep, rendering them defenceless against the sudden and deadly onslaught.
“Three members of Shia sect were killed, while one sustained serious injury.”
According to him, the suspected insurgents attacked the school when these youths were asleep, brought them outside and shot them dead.
“We don’t know who they (gunmen) are, but all we know is that they killed three students in the school. One person who tried to escape during the incident was injured and he has been hospitalised,” he said.
Our correspondent learnt that there is tension in the town. “People are terrified over this unfortunate incident,” he said.
