President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Works, David Umahi, on his 63rd birthday, commending his unwavering commitment to delivering quality infrastructure projects across the country.
Umahi, who was born on July 25, 1963, served as the senator representing Ebonyi South after completing two successive terms as Governor of Ebonyi State from 2015 to 2023 before joining the Tinubu administration as Minister of Works.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Umahi as one of the most dedicated and hardworking members of his cabinet.
The President praised the minister for his determination to ensure that roads and bridges constructed under his supervision are built to stand the test of time and serve generations of Nigerians.
According to the statement, Tinubu applauded Umahi’s “passion, dedication to duty, and deep sense of patriotism,” describing his contributions to national infrastructure development as commendable.
He urged the works minister to maintain the current pace of road construction, rehabilitation and completion of critical projects, noting that these efforts align with his administration’s broader objective of improving the lives of Nigerians while driving economic development.
Highlighting Umahi’s leadership style, Tinubu said the minister remains actively involved in monitoring projects rather than relying solely on reports from officials.
“As a minister, he does not just sit in his office or rely on reports from subordinates; he is constantly on the road, personally monitoring construction work nationwide to ensure compliance with specifications and approvals,” Tinubu said.
The President also extended warm birthday wishes to Umahi and his family, praying for continued good health, wisdom and strength as he continues to serve the nation.
