The National Association of University Students (NAUS) National Headquarters participated in the National Assembly Open Week 2026, reaffirming its commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance in Nigeria.
Representing the association at the event was the Deputy National President, National & Campus Affairs, Comrade Joseph Olamilekan, who described the participation as a significant step towards strengthening collaboration between the student body and key government institutions.
According to him, NAUS’ presence at the National Assembly Open Week underscores the association’s resolve to ensure that the voices, interests, and welfare of Nigerian university students remain at the forefront of national discussions and policy formulation.
As the apex body representing university students in Nigeria, the NAUS National Headquarters remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that Nigerian students are adequately represented at all levels of national discourse and decision-making,” he said.
Olamilekan commended the National Assembly for organising the Open Week initiative, describing it as a commendable platform for fostering transparency, public engagement, and accountability in governance.
He expressed optimism that the engagement would pave the way for stronger partnerships between NAUS and the National Assembly, leading to policies and programmes that will directly improve the welfare and educational experience of Nigerian students.
The National Assembly Open Week is designed to promote citizens’ participation in legislative processes while strengthening public confidence in democratic institutions through openness and engagement.
