Troops of Sector II under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have arrested a suspected logistics supplier linked to terrorist groups and recovered a large cache of military-style equipment during an operation in Zamfara State.
The development was disclosed in an operational report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.
According to the report, the suspect was apprehended on Wednesday along the Sokoto-Gusau Road during a routine stop-and-search operation conducted by military personnel.
The army said the suspect was travelling in a Honda Civic vehicle when troops discovered several military-related items concealed inside the car.
Recovered items included 150 pairs of combat boots, three jackknives, three electric shockers, one tear gas canister, a military beret and a military belt.
Troops also recovered two Android mobile phones, an iPad and a digital wristwatch, all of which are believed to possess intelligence value that could assist ongoing investigations.
The military described the arrest as a significant breakthrough in efforts to dismantle logistics and supply chains supporting terrorist and bandit operations across the North-West region.
According to the report, cutting off access to equipment and supplies remains a key strategy in weakening the operational strength of criminal groups and limiting their ability to carry out attacks.
The army stated that the suspect is currently in military custody and undergoing further investigation to determine the extent of his involvement and possible links to terrorist networks operating in the region.
It added that all recovered items have been secured and documented as exhibits for investigative and prosecutorial purposes.
The report noted that the successful operation highlights the effectiveness of intensified stop-and-search activities being carried out under Operation FANSAN YAMMA across strategic routes in the region.
Military authorities said the operation forms part of broader efforts to deny terrorists and bandits freedom of movement while disrupting their access to critical operational resources.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups, criminal networks and their collaborators in order to restore peace and improve security across Zamfara State and other parts of the North-West.
The military also reiterated its determination to continue intelligence-driven operations aimed at identifying and dismantling support structures that enable criminal activities in the region.
