The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has secured a landslide victory in the Adamawa State Local Government Elections, winning all 21 chairmanship positions and the 226 councillorship seats contested across the state.

The results were officially announced by the Chairman of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), Mohammed Umar, at the commission’s headquarters in Yola after the completion of the collation process.

The declaration was made in the presence of election observers, security personnel, political party representatives and members of the electoral commission.

According to Umar, the elections were successfully conducted in all 226 wards across Adamawa State, with the PDP emerging victorious in every chairmanship and councillorship contest.

The ADSIEC chairman, however, did not provide details of the total number of votes cast during the elections.

Speaking after the announcement, Umar commended residents of the state for their peaceful conduct throughout the electoral exercise, noting that their cooperation contributed significantly to the successful conclusion of the polls.

He also expressed appreciation to security agencies, election officials and other stakeholders who played various roles in ensuring a peaceful and orderly electoral process across the state.

“The people of Adamawa State demonstrated commitment to democracy through their peaceful participation and cooperation during the elections,” Umar stated.

The outcome means that the PDP will control all local government councils in the state, further strengthening the party’s political dominance in Adamawa.

Political analysts say the comprehensive victory reflects the party’s strong grassroots presence and organisational structure across the state.

The election was conducted amid heightened security arrangements, with authorities deploying personnel across the 21 local government areas to maintain law and order throughout the voting and collation process.

Observers reported that voting proceeded peacefully in most parts of the state, with no major incidents recorded during the exercise.

With the conclusion of the election, attention is expected to shift to the inauguration of the newly elected local government chairmen and councillors, who will assume responsibility for grassroots governance and development across the state.

The PDP’s clean sweep of the local government polls marks one of the most decisive electoral victories recorded in Adamawa State in recent years and reinforces the party’s influence ahead of future political contests.
