Police in Ogun State have discovered an unidentified lifeless body of a member of Aiye confraternity popularly called ‘Mosquito’ along Ijagun Road, Ijebu-Ode.
Similarly, Mosquito’s hand was severed by the rival cult group and absconded with.
His body was discovered, following information received by the police over a cult clash in the area for supremacy battle.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement yesterday in Abeokuta, the state capital
Odutola said upon receiving the information, the DPO of Ijebu-Ode Division with his men swung into action and on arriving the scene, the body of an unidentified middle-aged man was discovered with machete wounds and gun shot injuries.
She added that the victim’s left hand was severed, removed and taken away by his killers
The PPRO noted that a member of Aiye cult group identified the body as ‘Mosquito’ before the corpse was evacuated.
She said six expended cartridges were recovered at the scene.
Odutola said the corpse had been evacuated and transferred to Ijebu Ode State Hospital where he was pronounced dead and placed in the morgue.
She hinted that the command had launched a manhunt for the culprits.
