President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived back in Abuja following the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in Lagos, where he participated in a series of political, governmental, and national activities that underscored his administration’s ongoing engagements and preparations ahead of future national developments.
The President’s aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at approximately 5:17 p.m. on Tuesday. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by several senior government officials, including Nyesom Wike, Femi Gbajabiamila, Nuhu Ribadu, Tunji Disu, alongside other top-ranking officials of the Federal Government.
During his stay in Lagos for the Eid-el-Kabir holiday, President Tinubu hosted several prominent political leaders, government officials, and stakeholder groups who paid him the traditional Sallah homage. Among those who visited the President was Vice President Kashim Shettima, who joined other dignitaries in extending festive greetings and discussing matters of national importance.
The President also received members of the leadership of the Senate led by Godswill Akpabio. The delegation’s visit formed part of the customary Sallah engagements that often provide opportunities for discussions on governance, legislative priorities, and national development.
In addition, members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, led by its Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, visited the President during the holiday period. The governors’ visit highlighted the continued collaboration between the Federal Government and state administrations on issues affecting governance and development across the country.
Political stakeholders from Oyo State within the ruling party also met with the President. The delegation included the party’s governorship candidate, Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, as well as candidates contesting for seats in the House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly in Lagos State.
As part of activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy, President Tinubu attended the International Fleet Review held at Eko Atlantic City Waterfront on Monday. During the event, the President commissioned three newly acquired naval vessels—NNS Oloibiri, NNS Mambila, and NNS Gurara—which are expected to enhance the Navy’s operational capabilities and maritime security efforts.
On the same day, President Tinubu also held talks with Romuald Wadagni. The meeting focused on strengthening the historic ties between Nigeria and Benin, while reinforcing cooperation in areas such as regional stability, trade, economic development, and diplomatic relations between the neighbouring countries.
Before the Eid-el-Kabir festivities commenced, the President had remained actively involved in the political processes of the ruling All Progressives Congress. He participated in the party’s primary elections held in Lagos, where candidates emerged for various elective offices, including the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, governorship, and presidential contests.
President Tinubu also cast his vote during the party’s presidential primary process and subsequently secured overwhelming support across the country. According to the party, nearly 11 million members and delegates endorsed him as the APC’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election, positioning him as the party’s standard-bearer for the next electoral cycle.
His return to Abuja marks the continuation of official government activities after a period that combined religious observance, political consultations, diplomatic engagements, and participation in national events.
