Umahi Orders Reopening of Completed Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Road Sections for Eid Travel

Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, has directed the contractor handling the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway reconstruction project, Infiouest Nigeria Limited, to immediately reopen all completed sections of the road ahead of the Eid al-Adha celebrations.

According to a statement issued in Abuja by his Media Aide, Francis Nwaze, the directive was aimed at easing movement and ensuring safer travel for Nigerians expected to journey across the northern corridor during the festive period.

Umahi explained that the reopening of the completed portions of the highway would help reduce traffic congestion and improve travel experience for commuters moving between Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano during the Sallah celebrations.

The minister also disclosed that an earlier accident recorded along the route had been successfully cleared to restore free flow of traffic.

He added that security agencies had been strategically deployed across key areas of the highway to maintain law and order and provide additional safety for travelers throughout the holiday period.

Parts of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway had previously been shut down to allow contractors continue reconstruction work on the major federal road project.

The Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road remains one of Nigeria’s busiest and most economically important highways, linking the Federal Capital Territory with several northern states and serving as a critical route for trade, transportation, and interstate travel.
