Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe, yesterday, disclosed that at least 1,000 undergraduates would benefit from the second tranche of his N100 million educational bursary award.
Agom-Jarigbe disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Ogoja, pointing out that the beneficiaries started receiving bank alerts yesterday.
He stated that the award is being disbursed in two tranches of N50 million each, adding that the first tranche was disbursed in December 2025.
54 wards that make up the senatorial district had no fewer than 20 students selected for the award.
Agom-Jarigbe, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Gas, affirmed his commitment to support educational development in his constituency.
He noted that the gesture was meant “to ease the financial burden from the parents and guardians of these students.”
The statement added that in August 2025, the lawmaker launched a portal for undergraduates in selected tertiary institutions to apply.
According to the statement, no fewer than 100 students from each of the five local government areas that make up the district, studying in 11 tertiary institutions in the state, were to benefit from the award.
The selected institutions include the University of Calabar, University of Cross River State, Degree Program Unit of the Federal College of Education, Federal College of Education, Obudu, and the University of Education and Entrepreneurship, Akamkpa.
Others are the Federal Polytechnic, Ugep, Institute of Technology and Management, Ugep, College of Health Technology, Calabar, and the Colleges of Nursing and Midwifery, Calabar, Itigidi, Ogoja and Obudu. (NAN)
