Rehabilitation Of Katsina-Ala-Takum Road Will Enhance Security, Boost Economy – Umahi

Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi has disclosed that the rehabilitation of the 78.62 kilometres Katsina-Ala-Tordonga-Takum road  will enhance security and boost the local economy. 

Umahi made the disclosure yesterday while inspecting the ongoing work on the road, stating that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to an inclusive government that benefits all communities in the country.

The minister, represented by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mallam Mohammed Abdullahi, charged the contractor to adhere to the terms of the contractual agreement.

The Federal Controller of Works, Federal Ministry of Works, Benue State office, Engr Mukaila Danladi explained that the project had faced challenges, including a ban on mining activities in the state, which affected the sourcing of materials and security issues.

The immediate past Chairman of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, Engr Ukeyima Manger commended President  Tinubu for awarding the contract, noting that it would improve the local economy.

Project Coordinator of Gerawa Global Engineering, Engr James Ingbian explained that the contract was awarded in 2023, but faced security challenges and a ban on mining activities, which affected operations.

Ingbian assured that the company would deliver quality work based on the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the federal government.
