2027: Obi Maintains Stand

…Eyes ADC presidential ticket amid Atiku, Amaechi, others

Labour Party , LP, presidential candidate in the last presidential election, Mr Peter Obi, now a Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, yesterday in Abuja, reiterated his resolve to take another shot at the presidency under the platform of the ADC come 2027 general elections.

Obi reiterated his presidential ambition and his stand to be on the ballot as a presidential candidate and not a vice-presidential candidate while addressing supporters at a campaign event for the ADC candidates in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Area Council elections, which took place at the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC.

The presidential hopeful made it clear that he is aiming for the top position and would not settle for a subordinate roles.

He stressed that the AMAC election is closely tied to his wider political aspirations and called on party faithful and local residents to throw their weight behind the ADC candidate.

According to Obi, success in the AMAC poll would play a crucial role in advancing his political mission, adding that his involvement in the coming elections is as a leading contender and not in a supporting capacity.

“This coming election, support us in AMAC; it will help me. Your support in AMAC is critical to our journey. I am involved and contesting the coming election as number one. When I come back, you will see. I assure you”, Obi said.

Obi’s supporters, particularly members of the Obidient Movement, have intensified pressure on the ADC leadership to adopt him as the party’s standard-bearer for 2027, with many insisting that the ticket should go to Obi alone.

AljazirahNigeria reports that ADC is hosting several other high-profile politicians with presidential ambitions, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and others.

Many analysts, especially those routing for the Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to clinch the ADC Presidential ticket believed that Mr Peter Obi will be handed down the VP position as their calculations give VP Atiku an edge because Mr Atiku Abubakar knows how to win the primary election. Alhaji Atiku has won the ACN  Primary in 2007, won the PDP primary in 2019 and 2023. But the same Atiku lost to formerly President Jonathan in 2010, and to ex-president Buhari in 2014. AljazirahNigeria acres that the claim of having the magic wand to win the presidential election primaries is not entirely truth as he has lost and won some of the contests.

AljazirahNigeria recalls that one of the Chieftains of the ADC , Chief Odigie-Oyegun yesterday in his inaugural speech on the heels of heading the ADC special committee to formulate the party’s National policy and manifesto said that the party will win the 2027 Presidency. This will only be achieved if the opposition ADC and others in coalition with the ADC remained united even if one didn’t win the primary election.
