A volleyball stakeholder and Member of Board of Trusteee BOT of Life Camp Volleyball Club Mr Paul Umoh has stressed the need for increased exposure, sponsorship and stronger structural support to improve performance and revive the sport in Nigeria, describing the current period as challenging but full of potential.
Speaking on Monday at the ongoing 2025 Super Cup put in place by the Nigeria Volleyball Federation where Customs Volleyball Club Thrashed Life Camp Volleyball Club 3-0, he expressed that sponsorship and Funding Vital for Volleyball Development in Nigeria
According to him, while the volleyball “family” in Nigeria is already growing, it can become even stronger with the right support systems in place.
He identified sponsorship as one of the biggest obstacles facing the sport, explaining that many talented players are unable to fully commit due to lack of backing from clubs and organisations.
“With proper sponsorship, clubs would be better positioned to sign players on good contracts, keep them engaged, and create long-term benefits for both the athletes and the sport.
He applauded NVBF for visible improvement in Volleyball in the country but emphasising that continuous development remains essential.
He concluded by calling for collective effort from administrators, sponsors and stakeholders to make volleyball more attractive, competitive and sustainable in Nigeria
