Zamfara Govt Distributes Motorcycles To Sanitation Officers

Zamfara State government has distributed 65 motorcycles to sanitation supervisors in Gusau, as part of efforts to ease routine sanitation duties in the state.

Speaking during the flag-off of the distribution yesterday, the Deputy Governor, Mani Mummuni said the gesture was aimed at motivating and enhancing the efficiency of officers in maintaining cleanliness in Gusau metropolis.

He cautioned the beneficiaries to be diligent and responsible in the use of the motorcycles, adding that any form of  misuse or negligence could attract sanctions.

Meanwhile, he noted that the officers were allowed to use the motorcycles for commercial purpose after official sanitation hours, to assist their livelihood.

According to Mummuni, part of the state government’s focus is youth empowerment and job creation.

He recalled that government had recently distributed 10 vehicles to youth leaders, adding that more interventions would be extended to more youths in the future.

In a related development, the deputy governor also flagged-off the distribution of vocational tools, facilitated by the Senator representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District, Ikra Bilbis, for the benefit of youths in his constituency.

The items include: motorcycles, sewing machines and refrigerators, which were distributed to male and female youths across Gusau, Tsafe, Maru, and Bungudu Local Government Areas, in a bid to promote self-reliance.

He commended Senator Bilbis for the laudable initiative and urged other elected representatives to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state and their respective constituents. (NAN)
