Former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity and sustained dialogue as critical pillars for national stability in 2026.

Aliyu made this known in a statement on New Year’s Eve, calling on citizens to remain resilient in the face of economic and social challenges experienced in the past year, describing the collective strength of Nigerians as the country’s most valuable asset in its journey toward recovery and progress.

She commended the people of Kogi State, her home state, for their sense of community and support for the current administration, expressing confidence that the state would realise its full potential under the strategic leadership presently in place.

“The new year is more than a turning of the calendar; it is a moment of renewal. It calls on us to recommit ourselves to peace, tolerance, and national cohesion. Our diversity remains our greatest strength, and our destiny is one. Let us therefore choose understanding over division, dialogue over discord, and the collective interest of our nation over narrow personal or sectional considerations,” she said.

Aliyu also urged Nigerians to support ongoing reforms under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“As citizens, we are called to support and align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of our President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. The ongoing reforms, though demanding patience, are designed to lay the foundations for a more resilient economy, greater opportunities for our women and youth, and a more secure and prosperous Nigeria,” she added.

The former minister stressed that nation-building should be seen as a shared responsibility, rather than the exclusive duty of those in government.

Reaffirming her personal commitment to grassroots engagement, she pledged to continue advocating for inclusive development that leaves no segment of society behind.

“As we journey through this new year, may our homes be filled with peace, our communities experience tangible progress, and may our hearts remain anchored in hope and confidence in the promise of Nigeria,” Aliyu said.
