Police Arrest 2 For Supplying Food, Logistics To Criminals In Anambra

Anambra State Police Command has arrested two persons suspected to be members of a syndicate responsible for providing food and other essential logistics to a criminal group linked to secessionist activities within a camp located around Orsumoghu and Aguluezechukwu in Ihiala and Aguata Local Government Areas. 

Spokesperson of the command, Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this yesterday, said the suspects were arrested by police-led joint security team comprising operatives from the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu and Agunechemba, following a tip-off.

He said one type 06 rifle with ten rounds of live ammunition, two pump-action guns and 20 live cartridges were recovered from them.

“The police-led joint security team comprising operatives from the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu and Agunechemba, acting on credible intelligence in the early hours of  December 11, arrested two suspects.

“The suspects are members of a syndicate responsible for providing food and other essential logistics to a criminal group linked to secessionist activities within the camp located around Orsumoghu and Aguluezechukwu. 

“The operatives also recovered one  Type 06 rifle with ten  rounds of live ammunition, two  pump-action guns and 20 live cartridges.

“The suspects include Mmadubuchi Ike ‘M’, 28 years old and Chinonso Izunobi ‘M’, 34 years old respectively. 

“Upon interrogation, information linked the suspects involvement in serious offences, including the murder of a youth leader popularly known as “Biggy” in Ukpor and a series of kidnapping incidents across the state.

“To this end, the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu assures the public that intensive investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend additional members of the syndicate now at large. 

“The command remains fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of all communities, especially during this festive period.”
