The terrific form of Nigeria’s striker, Salim Fago Lawal, continues to make headlines in Europe after the former Flying Eagles forward was named in the Team of the Week in Croatia.
Lawal was the star of the show in NK Istra’s 2–1 victory over visiting Dinamo Zagreb, netting two brilliant goals in the Matchday 13 fixture. His all-round display once again underscored his status as a world-class striker, combining pace, precision, and power in front of goal.
With five goals and two assists so far this season — a total of seven goal contributions — Lawal has proven to be a fantastic acquisition for NK Istra, who signed him in the summer of 2023 from Mavlon FC of Lagos. His impressive performances come on the heels of his dazzling outing at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina, where the then-teenager found the net against Italy.
From all indications, the future looks bright for Lawal, who has earned a reputation as one of the fastest and most clinical strikers in Croatia. His sharp reactions and intelligent movement in the opponents’ box have made him a constant threat — and his rise shows no signs of slowing down.
