In a renewed drive to support education and youth empowerment, the Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Hon. Kabiru Amadu, popularly known as Mai-Palace, has awarded scholarships worth ₦39.4 million to 449 students from his constituency enrolled in various tertiary institutions across the country.
The disbursement, made under the 2025 Mai-Palace Scholarship Scheme, marks the seventh edition of the annual educational initiative, which has become a cornerstone of Hon. Amadu’s efforts to promote academic excellence and human capital development in Zamfara State.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Hon. Amadu, who represents the Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency—reaffirmed his conviction that investment in education remains a powerful tool for building a prosperous and self-reliant society.
“Education is the greatest gift we can offer our youth. It is the key to unlocking opportunities and ensuring a brighter future for our communities,” he said.
Beneficiaries of the scholarship expressed deep appreciation to the lawmaker, pledging to justify the gesture through academic excellence and community service.
Ongoing Educational and Infrastructure Initiatives
Hon. Amadu’s commitment to education extends beyond scholarships. In August, he completed the renovation of six classroom blocks at the Government Girls Day Secondary School, Gusau, under his constituency intervention program. The project aimed to create a more conducive learning environment and improve educational standards in the area.
Marking his second anniversary in office, the lawmaker also launched a comprehensive empowerment initiative targeting both the education and transport sectors in Zamfara State.
As part of the program, he distributed essential educational materials to 50 public schools—including 30 secondary and 20 primary schools across the Gusau and Tsafe Local Government Areas, reaching every political ward within his constituency.
These interventions, Hon. Amadu noted, are part of a broader effort to strengthen public education infrastructure and support underprivileged communities.
