FRSC Special Intelligence Squad Arrests 6 Officers For  Bribery

Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has arrested six of its personnel for alleged involvement in bribery while on official duty.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on Saturday in Abuja.

NAN reports that the arrested officers were apprehended by the Corps Marshal’s Special Intelligence Squad.

Mohammed said  the corps would not condone any form of bribery, corruption or other nefarious acts among its officers, stressing that the integrity of the organisation remains paramount.

“The personnel were arrested in two patrol teams operating under  Gwagwalada and Abaji Unit Commands in the Federal Capital Territory.

“A total of N39,600 was recovered from the officers, allegedly extorted from unsuspecting motorists,” he said.

Mohammed disclosed that officers in the Abaji team were found using a Point-of-Sale, PoS, operator to collect money from road users.

He said the affected personnel would be dismissed from service after completion of the investigation process, in line with  FRSC regulations.

The corps marshal also cautioned members of the public against offering bribes to FRSC officials and encouraged them to report any officer who demands money from motorists.

He urged the public to use the FRSC mobile app or the corps toll-free emergency line, 112, to report such misconduct. (NAN)
