Borno State government has kicked off a comprehensive vaccination campaign against measles rubella, Human Papilloma Virus, HPV, polio and routine immunisation across the state.
The campaign, which will cover the 27 local government areas, aims to reach even the most remote communities.
Speaking at the launch, Executive Secretary of Borno State Primary Health Care Development Agency, PHCDA, Professor Arab Alhaji praised the state’s efforts in combating childhood and infant diseases.
He urged parents, guardians and traditional leaders to promote awareness about the importance of vaccination, emphasising that vaccines are safe and effective.
Other stakeholders, including traditional leaders, wives of council chairmen and UNICEF representatives, pledged their commitment to grassroots sensitisation and mobilisation to ensure the campaign’s success.
The First Lady of Borno State, Professor Falmata Zulum called on citizens to engage in community sensitisation, reiterating government’s dedication to eradicate maternal and child mortality, and protect children from preventable diseases.
