A Magistrate Court sitting in Kano has directed two popular TikTok personalities, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, to tie the knot within 60 days.
The ruling followed their appearance in viral videos deemed indecent by the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board.
Presiding Magistrate Halima Wali, on Monday, instructed the Kano State Hisbah Board to facilitate the marriage process, warning that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe would amount to contempt of court.
She further ordered the Chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to supervise and ensure compliance with the court’s directive.
The duo had earlier been arraigned for allegedly producing and circulating obscene content on social media. Mai Wushirya was reportedly remanded in a correctional facility after videos showing him and the female TikToker in romantic scenes surfaced online.
Authorities maintained that the clips contravened state laws prohibiting the production and dissemination of sexually suggestive material.
