NSCDC Strengthens Security Around Dadin Kowa Dam

 Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Gombe State Command has unveiled fresh measures to bolster security at  Dadin Kowa Dam, one of Nigeria’s strategic national assets located in Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area.

The State Commandant, Jibrin Idris gave the assurance during a security assessment tour of the facility, where he met with officials of Mabon Ltd, operators of the hydro power plant and  Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority, UBRDA. 

Discussions focused on addressing security concerns around the dam.

Idris cautioned against scavenging and vandalism, noting that safeguarding critical infrastructure requires close collaboration between security agencies, traditional leaders and local communities.

A statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Buhari Sa’ad, said the commandant  paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Yamaltu, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu. 

He solicited the monarch’s support in sensitising residents against acts that endanger the facility.

The commandant was accompanied on the visit by senior officers from the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Unit, divisional officers from Yamaltu and Deba, as well as personnel from the Anti-Vandal Unit.
