Kebbi Gov Approves N1.1bn For Students Registration, College Projects

Kebbi State governor, Nasir Idris has approved  N1.1 billion for key interventions in the education sector and the settlement of outstanding indigent students registration fees.

The Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga made this known while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, yesterday. 

According to him, the approval was given by Governor Idris as part of his administration’s commitment to improve access to quality education.

Abubakar-Tunga said the projects include the renovation of Abdulsalam Nagimbana, Bush House and Emir Haruna Rasheed students hostels at the state College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega, at the cost of N230.2 million.

“Procurement of essential equipment for the take-off of the newly established College of Midwifery, Ambursa, Birnin Kebbi, covering library, demonstration room, ICT, sick bay, physical sciences laboratory and microbiology laboratory, at the cost of N251.5 million.

“Payment of outstanding registration fees for Kebbi State students studying across the country for the 2024/2025 academic session, amounting to N695.9 million.

“These landmark interventions clearly demonstrate Governor Idris unwavering commitment to expand access to quality education and strengthen the state’s tertiary institutions to compete favourably with their counterparts across the nation,” Abubakar-Tunga said.

He described education as a vital long-term investment and the foundation of sustainable societal progress, saying  no effort or resources should be spared in safeguarding the future of the younger generation.

The commissioner commended the governor for the timely approval and urged students and the entire citizens  to continue to support the present administration with prayers to successfully deliver on its mandate. (NAN)
