Insecurity: Imo Govt To Secure Ex-lawmaker’s Release — Commissioner

From CHARLES ONYEKWERE, OWERRI

Imo State government has assured the public that it is doing everything within its power to secure the safe release of  Ngozi Ogbu, who was abducted a week ago.

The state government also condemned  the brazen and lawless act that led to the abduction of  Ogbu, a former Chairman of Okigwe Local Government Area and former member of the House of Assembly.

It stated that in concert with  security agencies, government has activated the necessary mechanism to ensure his prompt and safe return.

While these efforts are ongoing,  government urges politicians, especially those who had in the past fanned the flames of insecurity, to desist from making political capital out of Ogbu’s ordeal.

In a statement issued yesterday, the state government through the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba stated that such comments or actions not only trivialise his suffering, but could further endanger his life.

The politicisation of a matter involving the life of a husband, father and fellow citizen is, to say the least, deeply unconscionable.

The state government reiterated its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, and will continue to work tirelessly to keep Imo safe.
