Man, 35, Docked Over  N370,000 Fraud

COURT

Thirty-five-year old man, Kelechi Eze, yesterday, appeared before the Ojo Magistrate Court, Lagos, over alleged fraud of N370,000.

Eze, whose address was not provided, is being charged with stealing and fraudulently obtaining money.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between March and April at No 84, Olojo Drive in Ojo.

Uche said Eze collected  N370,000 from Mr Jonathan Chikwado, the complainant, who deals in kitchen equipment.

He said the defendant collected the money with the pretext of repairing a faulty kitchen equipment.

“He did not repair the equipment as agreed, he converted the money to his personal use. He also stole a grinding machine belonging to the complainant,” he said.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with one surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned until November 20 for mention. (NAN)
