Reeny Hub for Skill Acquisition and Economic Empowerment Foundation has trained 100 women and girls on producing basic household products, aiming to enhance their economic independence and self-reliance.
The Executive Director, Reeny Hub for Skill Acquisition and Economic Empowerment Foundation, Efeanyi Maureen said during a 2 day women entrepreneurship and empowerment training program with the theme building community resilience through sustainable empowerment, the training program focuses on equipping women with skills to produce essential items such as bleach, hair cream, and aftershaves.
She noted that the training is part of Reeny Hub’s mission to empower marginalized groups, particularly women and girls, through skills acquisition and economic empowerment.
According to her, providing women with the skills and knowledge to produce basic household products, Reeny Hub aims to help them generate income, improve their livelihoods, and contribute to the economic development of their communities.
“The training program is a step towards achieving the organization’s goal of reducing poverty and promoting sustainable development in Nigeria. By empowering women with economic skills, Reeny Hub is helping to build a more resilient and prosperous community”.
She explained that Reeny Hub plans to extend the training program to other states across the country, targeting underdeveloped communities and marginalized groups. The organization has already conducted outreach activities in various area councils, identifying communities that would benefit from their programs.
“Through its skills acquisition and economic empowerment initiatives, Reeny Hub is working to create a brighter future for women and girls in Nigeria, enabling them to reach their full potential and contribute to the country’s economic growth and development,” she stated.
Also speaking, a researcher at Reeny Hub Mr Okuda Eferoma, noted the importance of such empowerment programs in tackling youth unemployment.
“Due to the high rate of unemployment among youth, we aim to reach out to those who lack skills and capacity. Our goal is to empower them to produce essential goods that meet international standards, so they can compete effectively and meet market demands.”
In the same vain, the industrial training facilitator, Richard Both Okpyemi, emphasized the long-term support participants will receive.
“This training is designed to promote human capital development and entrepreneurial skills. We won’t just leave them after training—we will guide them on sourcing materials, provide free consultancy, and support them with production guidelines, packaging, and marketing strategies.”
“We envision a future where at least one person per household can produce a product. This model has worked in other countries, and we believe it can work here too.”
Meanwhile, the head of Gberuwa community, Monda Kogi, expressed deep gratitude to Reeny Hub Foundation.
“We truly appreciate Reeny Hub for bringing this life-changing training to our women. We never imagined something like this would happen in our community.”
“Our community has long been left behind, especially in terms of education. We seriously lack access to quality education, there is no secondary school here, and our primary school is dilapidated.”
