Niger Govt Sets Aside N5bn For Construction Of NYSC Camp

Niger State Governor, Muhammad Umaru Bago has set aside the sum of  5 Billion Naira for the construction of a new NYSC permanent orientation camp.

Governor Bago announced this during the official opening of the 2024 Batch “B” Stream 1 orientation course, and swearing-in ceremony of corps members deployed to the state, at NYSC orientation camp, Paiko.

The Governor also disclosed that the state government would build more toilets facilities as well as drill bore holes in the temporary orientation camp to make it habitable for the Corps members.

Bago who was the Special Guest at the occasion, commended corps members for choosing to serve in the state. He also donated to Corps members one trailer of Rice and (20) Cows, in addition to N200,000:00,bonus for each of the 1,300 corps members serving in the state.

The governor admonished corps members to embrace the farming scheme of the government, adding that a memorandum of understanding (MOU) had been signed between the Ministry of Youths and Sports with the NYSC, to propel Agriculture on the NYSC scheme.

He added that youth corpers willing to engage in farming activities such as Aqua culture, Animal husbandry would earn N500,000 monthly.

He assured them of adequate security, safety and welfare, while thanking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting him to make sure that agriculture revolution is piloted in Niger State.

Earlier in her opening address, the Minister of Youths Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim announced a
groundbreaking initiative by the federal government to empower 5,000 NYSC members with up to Ten million naira each for entrepreneurial ventures upon completion of their service year.

She said government was introducing significant reforms to the NYSC program so as to integrate skills development and entrepreneurship into their service year.

The Director General, National Youths Service Corps, Brigadier Gen. Yushau Dogara Ahmed, however lauded the governor for approving the construction of the new permanent orientation camp.
