Following the forthcoming bye-election scheduled for Saturday, August 16, the Kaduna State Police Command has imposed restriction of movement in the affected local government areas.
The restriction of movement is from 12:00am in Sabon Gari, Zaria, Chikun and Kajuru Local Government Areas.
A statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan yesterday, explained that the measure is part of security arrangements put in place ahead of the upcoming bye-elections in the affected areas.
DSP Hassan stated that the restriction aimed at ensuring public safety, preventing any breach of peace and guaranteeing a smooth and orderly electoral process.
According to the statement, members of the public are strongly advised to comply with this directive as only personnel on essential duties and those with valid election duties will be exempted.
The command therefore urged residents to conduct themselves peacefully and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a hitch-free election.
