Controversy Trails Alleged Forced Resignation Of NNPCL Boss Bayo Ojulari

Fresh controversy has emerged within the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), following reports that its Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari, was allegedly coerced into signing a resignation letter.

According to a Peoples Gazette report on Saturday, the incident reportedly took place on Friday, involving the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Ajayi.

Sources familiar with the matter told the platform that Ojulari was confronted and repeatedly questioned over his alleged links to Olatimbo Ayinde, a British-Nigerian oil executive said to wield growing influence within President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

“Mr Ojulari told us he didn’t know Olatimbo Ayinde,” a source reportedly told Peoples Gazette under anonymity.

The incident comes amid heightened scrutiny and internal tensions within NNPCL, which recently raised concerns over attempts to undermine its leadership.

Ojulari was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in April 2025.
