Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, Kano Region and Kano State Ministry of Land and Physical Planning have reached an agreement to resolve the legal disputes that stalled Kumbotso–Rimin Zakara 330kV transmission line project.

This was disclosed in a statement signed on Friday by TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah.

According to the transmission company, the meeting held on July 21 was convened by the ministry to address the litigation surrounding land ownership and compensation, which had significantly delayed progress.

It revealed that under the terms of agreement, Kano State government would compensate individuals whose cases remain under legal consideration and provide alternative land to the affected parties. This resolution removes the final obstacles to the project’s completion.

TCN said it is optimistic that the agreement would accelerate work on the transmission line, which is critical to improving electricity infrastructure and supporting industrial development in the northern part of the country.

“The development is a major breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the national grid,” it added.
