Majority leaders of local government legislative councils in Kaduna State have stressed their commitment to work with the House of Assembly.
They made their intention known when they paid a courtesy visit to the Assembly, reaffirming their commitment to strengthen legislative collaboration.
Led by the Chairman of the association and Majority Leader of Jama’a Legislative Council, Mr Armstrong Mai-Chibi, they described the visit as a familiarisation and appreciation tour.
Mai-Chibi praised the leadership of the Assembly, particularly its Majority Leader, Munirat Suleiman, whom he described as the only female majority leader in Nigeria.
Also speaking, a Majority Leader and Councillor representing Manchok Ward in Kaura Local Government, Justina Nicodemus pledged to use her position to empower more women and inspire greater female participation in politics.
“I will use my achievements and experience in politics to encourage women.
“Whenever I gain something, I will share it with others to show them what is possible,” she said.
Nicodemus also commended Governor Uba Sani’s developmental efforts across the state.
“The visit marked a significant step toward bridging the gap between local and state legislative bodies, while spotlighting the growing role of women in political leadership.”
In her response, Suleiman pledged support between the state and local legislative arms.
She emphasised the importance of synergy in achieving effective service delivery and improving governance at all levels.
She noted that majority leaders must lead by example and ensure that their legislative roles translate into real benefits for the people.
