Supreme Court: Community Urges Okpebholo To Be Magnanimous In Victory 

Gelegele community in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo on his Supreme Court victory, urging him to be magnanimous in victory.

A statement by the community Chairman and Secretary, Omaghomi Olu-Derimon and Ayenimibofa Apohi, respectively, described the court verdict as a tool for inclusive governance and accelerated development in the state.

“We, the people of Gelegele community, are thrilled that our votes counted and our voices were heard.

“Your triumph is a testament to your unwavering dedication, perseverance and vision for Edo State,” the statement read.

The community urged the  governor to work across political divide by bridging development gap, particularly in riverine areas and alleged marginalised areas like Gelegele.

The Ijaw-speaking community also appealed to the governor to consider the establishment of Edo Riverine Waterways Agency to align with the federal government’s Ministry of Blue Economy.

“We hope that your leadership will prioritise the need of all communities, especially those that have suffered years of underrepresentation and neglect by successive administrations,” the statement added. (NAN)
