Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni has promised a conducive environment for the World Food Programme, WFP.
Buni gave the assurance yesterday when the Director of the programme, Mr David Stevenson and the Director of Mastercard Foundation, Rosy Fynn paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Damaturu.
The governor commended the organisations for supporting the state in its recovery programme.
In his address to the governor, Mr Stevenson congratulated the state government for successfully transiting from humanitarian services to durable solutions for Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs.
“I appreciate your wisdom, partnership and progress in finding durable solutions in resettling displaced persons.
“The engagement of youths and women in farming, provides durable solutions towards a sustainable means of livelihood,” he said.
He expressed readiness to continue partnering the state government to unlock agricultural opportunities.
Similarly, Fynn expressed the foundation’s commitment to engage youths, especially women to benefit from its intervention in Nigeria.
She said the foundation is working on 30 million job opportunities for youths with emphasis on female beneficiaries.
