Kaduna State government has dismissed rumours of the imposition of a 24-hour curfew in Kakuri area of Kaduna South Local Government Area.

Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr James  Kanyip gave the clarification in a statement yesterday in Kaduna.

Declaring the rumour as false, Kanyip noted that the areas mentioned in the rumour, which include Kakuri bus-stop, Kurmi Gwari, Monday market, Afaka Road, Air Force Junction and Kakuri GRA, had remained calm and peaceful, with people going about their normal businesses.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to disregard the rumour being spread by mischief-makers.

“The Kaduna State government, however, remains committed to this course and assures citizens that security agencies are fully on ground to ensure adequate protection of lives and property and promote peaceful co-existence amongst residents of the area,” he said.

The commissioner enjoined the public to continue to collaborate with security agencies and report any strange happenings within their respective domains, and also avoid relying on information from unconfirmed sources for avoidance of any untoward development.
