Federal University, Kashere, FUK, is set to commission its new medical school, which is equipped with modern facilities, such as hostels and a state-of-the-art laboratory.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Umar Pate disclosed this during a press conference ahead of the university’s sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth combined convocation ceremonies scheduled for Saturday.
Among the graduates, 91 achieved first-class honours, 3,917 graduated with second-class upper degrees, 1,899 with second-class lower degrees, 960 with third-class degrees and three with pass degrees.
The vice-chancellor expressed concern over the low enrollment of female students, noting that 4,791 of the graduates were male, while only 2,079 were female.
He pledged to prioritise efforts to increase female enrollment across all departments.
He announced that the commissioning of the medical school would be conducted by the Minister of Health, Professor Ali Pate, on Friday.
Professor Pate emphasised that with the establishment of the medical school, the Federal University of Kashere is poised to compete with leading universities in Nigeria, particularly in medical education and research.
