President Bola Tinubu has said that series of completed laudable projects being commissions under the present FCT Administration led by the Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike are enough to speak for themselves.
Tinubu stated this while commissioning a newly completed access road to Giri District in Abuja on Monday.
The President who was represented at the occasion by the Speaker of House of Representatives,Tajudeen Abass expressed appreciation to the Minister for not only embracing his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda but localizing it which now birthed quality and excellence to the dual states of communities long laid in the shadows.
” Honourable Minister,your work speak for itself in every corner of the FCT. From the vast-spaced districts of maitama , Jahi, Katampe, Wuye, Mabushi, and the likes, to the towns of Gwagwalada ,kwali,bwari and Abaji, and growing districts such as Kabusa, Keti and now Giri , your leadership has brought progress closer to the people. Thank you very much.
” these newly constructed access roads are not just infrastructural achievements,but as statements of intent, the intention to open up Giri District and the FCT.
” With this Administration, no community is too small, area too distant, citizen too insignificant, to benefit from the dividends of democracy. Honourable Minister, on behalf of myself, my Administration, and the good people of the FCT, I say thank you to you. thank you for reminding us that good governance is not about fanfare, but about footsteps.
In his speech during the road commissioning, FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike disclosed that having completed the construction of the access road, what follow will now be how to begin to put in place necessary infrastructure withing the district as a whole.
Wike explained that with the opening up of the district which boosts of presence of University of Abuja, Proposed EFCC Academy and other institutions which are expected to be there, it will go a long way in not only encouraging those institutions to move their equipments to develop their areas but also private land titleholders.
” What we have done is now, having created this access road, we have told the Executive Secretary of FCDA and other relevant agencies to start working on details of how we ‘re going to do the roads, within the district. So, to be assured that may be next one year, it will be a different thing.
” This district, we’re going to have most institutions like the University, like the EFCC Academy, and other institutions that are supposed to be here.
” And this road has helped us to stop the land grabbing by the University. The University on their own grabbed 11,000 hectares. I said that will not happen. No document, nothing. You see them fencing everywhere, and before you know it, they would have gone to sell our land.
” EFCC have assured us that they will start the academy immediately because now they have access roads that they can move in their equipments and develop this. And when this comes, you see that other people will also move in and develop their own area.
” So, Mr. President, this will be an important district that will attract so many investors. Of course, coming in here, you can see how beautiful it looks. If the National Assembly want to have their own institution, we are ready to partner with you to give National Assembly so that the budget can be approved as easily as possible. You know, we are ready to do that.
