Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun said his administration would invest N2billion on intervention projects in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta.
Abiodun stated this on Tuesday at the 15th combined convocation ceremonies of 51,000 graduands from 2015/2016 to 2023/2024 sessions held at OGD auditorium of the institution.
He said government would embark on intervention projects including the construction of a 500-seater ultra modern lecture theatre, road leading to the auditorium, a building for the Department of Accounting, construction of a new SBMS block, as well as the construction and equipment of a modern library.
The governor said in his administration’s usual manner, the best graduating students would go home with N2.5 million each to celebrate their outstanding performance.
The best graduating students are: Sunday Augustine Chibuzor, best graduating student from the Civil Engineering department (structural), 2016; Ogunjimi Titilope Olalekan,Civil Engineering, 2017; Owolabi Joseph Okiwatobiloba,Statistics, 2018; Adewusi Esther Kemi, food technology, 2019.
Others are Adeoye Folashade Elizabeth, Micro Biology and Biology, 2020; Azeez Kadijat Oliwaseun, Micro Biology and Biology, 2021; Ajibola Adeniyi Monday, Civil Engineering, 2022; Orisawaye Samuel Emmanuel, Civil Engineering,2023; and Akindele Damilare Micheal, Civil Engineering, 2024.
Earlier, the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr Babatunde Jolaoso said the management had embarked on infrastructural development, academic growth, access to quality education, as well as teaching and non-teaching staff participation in skills and capacity development.
Jolaoso noted that it had provided a stable calendar for the timely processing and release of students results and also resuscitated MAPOLY’s Campus Radio for education, entertainment and information.
