2027: Coalition Passes Vote Of No Confidence In Otu

By MBACHU GODWIN,  Abuja

Coalition of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Support Groups, Cross River State chapter, has passed a Vote of no Confidence in the Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Otu.

The group described  governor Otu’s performance in the last two  years in office as an abysmal failure, urging the citizens to reject him in 2027 election.

Addressing a press conference, yesterday in Abuja, Coordinator of the group, Newgent Ekarmon claimed that the Otu-led administration in the state presides over a decline in key sectors of the economy.

Ekarmon added that the administration has in the past two years left Cross Riverians with dashed hopes and a bleak future without infrastructural development.

It stated  that “the state ranked 29th in the Federation in primary school enrollment and lacks basic amenities. The state healthcare delivery system is crumbling. The NBS report indicates that Cross River State has just 0.8 hospital beds per 1,000 people compared to the national average of 1.2, the doctor to patient ratio is a shocking  1 to 5,000.

Unemployment in Cross River has surged to 35 percent in  2024 by NBS figure”.

He  criticized the governor over the internal wrangling and infighting within the All Progressive Congress, APC , which according to him has stalled projects and  development in the state.

Ekarmon urged the PDP national leadership to put its house in order and dismantle the APC-led administration in the state.
