Kaduna State governor, Senator Uba Sani has called on citizens to uphold democratic values.
In his Democracy Day message, Governor Sani reflected on the significance of June 12, marking the 32nd anniversary of the annulled presidential election that sparked the country’s struggle for democracy.
The governor highlighted the progress made since the return to democratic rule in 1999, while acknowledging the challenges that still lie ahead.
He emphasised the importance of unity, resilience and determination in overcoming these challenges.
Governor Sani also underscored the Kaduna State government’s commitment to strengthen democracy, citing its inclusive and consultative administration, transparency and accountability.
He noted that government prioritizes the welfare of citizens, particularly the poor, vulnerable and underserved.
The governor, while urging citizens to remain vigilant and engage in the democratic process, also emphasised that democracy is a journey that demands collective participation.
He called on Nigerians to work together towards a brighter and more equitable future.
“May the sacrifices of our heroes continue to inspire us to protect our freedom and deepen our democracy,” the governor said.
