After another exciting day across the various venues of the 22nd National Sports Festival, the official Day 3 medal table sees Bayelsa State leading the pack with a total of 6 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal.
Close on their heels is Oyo State, with a total of 6 medals comprising 4 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze. Lagos State follows in third place with 3 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals after Tuesday’s events.
Cross River State sits in fourth place with 3 gold medals, while Rivers State rounds out the top five with 2 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze.
Making a strong impression are the Invited Junior Athletes (IJA), who currently occupy the sixth position with 2 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze—a commendable feat against more established teams.
Defending champions and tournament favorites, Delta State, find themselves in a surprising seventh position after Day 3, with just 1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal.
So far, a total of 71 medals have been awarded: 23 gold, 23 silver, and 25 bronze, as the festival continues to build momentum in excitement, competition, and quality.
The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, has urged journalists covering the Games to rely solely on the official medal standings released by the Commission, rather than unverified tables circulating online.
Competition resumes on Wednesday, with more action expected across various venues as teams battle for supremacy on the medal table.
