Iyalolomo Foundation has distributed food items to over 3,000 women, including widows, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as part of efforts to support women during this year’s Ramadan period.
The foundation made the disclosure in a statement yesterday, following its maiden edition of Ramadan lecture held in Abeokuta.
It revealed that the donation include rice and garri, aimed at easing the burden on women during the holy month.
Speaking at the event, Convener of the foundation, Chief Aisha Aina, said the lecture serves as a platform to reflect on the roles of women in community development and support the governorship ambition of Senator Olamilekan Yayi, representing Ogun West Senatorial District.
“We are here today to hold the maiden edition of Iyalolomo Foundation’s Ramadan lecture and to distribute food items to over 3,000 women, including widows.
“This event was also organisedto show support for our son from Egbaland, Senator Yayi. His developmental strides in Ogun West shows that if he emerges the next governor of Ogun State in 2027, the state will be better for it.
“Women from Egbaland have agreed to support him because his mother is from Kemta in Abeokuta. I urge us to use this period to pray for peace and development in Ogun State and Nigeria at large,” Aina said.
Guest speaker at the event, Fadilat As-Shaykh Abubakr Isa As-Salaaty, who spoke on the theme “The Role of Women in Community Development”, commended women for their contributions to the social and economic development of the community.
He described Senator Yayi as a politician with a large heart and offered prayers for him to realise his governorship aspiration in 2027.
