Over 80 percent of members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, who concluded their orientation in Edo State on Monday would be deployed to the education sector.
The State Coordinator, NYSC, Mrs Frances Ben-Ushie disclosed this during the passing out parade of the corps members at the orientation camp in Okada, ahead of their posting.
Ben-Ushie commended the state government for its commitment to youth development, adding that corps members are ready to make impact in their assigned communities.
“These young men and women have undergone physical and intellectual training, leadership development and specialised programmes such as SDGs initiative, SERVICOM and Safety Vanguard,” she stated.
She highlighted the importance of the visit of the governor’s representative, which she said provided corps members with direct interaction with a key stakeholder in the education sector.
“This session was crucial because it allowed corps members to meet someone who is already making a difference in capacity building, philanthropy and human capital development.
“It will prepare you mentally to serve effectively in the communities,” she explained.
The Commissioner for Education, Emmanuel Paddy charged the corps members to embrace a mindset of value-addition, resilience and self-development as they prepare for their postings.
Paddy, who represented Governor Monday Okpebholo, urged them to remain focused, build strong networks and see opportunities even in difficult situations.
Paddy assured them of the state government’s commitment to create opportunities for young people through policy reforms and strategic partnerships.
