Relax Policies Compounding Economic Woes, Activist Urges Tinubu

President Bola  Tinubu has been urged to relax the economic policies that have compounded  worsened poverty in the country.

Chairman for Democracy and Human Rights Advocacy Civil Society of Nigeria, Dr Abdullahi  Jabi, stated this in a statement jointly signed by the Secretary-General, Comrade  Abduwahid Adenina in  Minna.

The statement explained that the masses are finding it difficult to survive the pains associated with the removal of fuel subsidy, adding that though the tax reform bill before the National Assembly might bring succour.

The group also sympathised with Diko community and the government of Niger State over the  recent tanker explosion and prayed for those   who lost their lives and quick recovery for the injured ones.

Jabi also praised the Director-General, Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA, Alhaji Abdullahi Arah and  other security agencies for their prompt response to the  explosion. 

“We appreciate Nigerians, the federal government, lawmakers and the international community for their  interventions and condolence messages.”

The coalition of civil societies, however, suggested ways to avoid future reoccurrence, urging the federal government to be more proactive in the rehabilitation and completion of roads, particularly Abuja- Minna and Lambata-LapaiBida roads.

The group also called on the  state government in collaboration with the  transport ministry and the House of Assembly to come up with policies and laws to reduce  reckless driving and introduce axle load way bridges.
