Chief of United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, Bauchi Field Office, Dr Nuzhat Rafique has expressed commitment to continue the collaboration with Pediatric Association of Nigeria, PAN, to enhance child healthcare and development in Nigeria.
Rafique said this during a road walk organised by the association.
The walk, which commenced from the palace of the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, and ended at Pantami Township Stadium, focused on the shared goals of UNICEF and PAN to support child health.
Speaking to journalists after the road walk, Rafique re affirmed UNICEF’s full support for the event, which was designed to improve child health and development.
“PAN is one of UNICEF’s key partners. We share the same mission concerning children and this event underscores the importance of that mission,” she said.
She added that the event included activities and workshops aimed at advancing child health, particularly newborn care and exclusive breastfeeding.
Dr Rafique also commended the efforts of pediatricians in improving child health and ensuring infant survival, noting that these efforts are critical to the country’s development.
