Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have launched heavy attacks on a military base in Malam-Fatoriin Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State, Killing a senior army commander, two senior military officers and other 16 soldiers during an attack.
A resident of the community who does not want his name mentioned in print told AljazirahNigeria that at least three to four hours on Friday, the terrorists stormed the 149 Battalion in Malam-Fatori and dislodged the base as soldiers who survived the deadly attack fled the area to a safer place.
According to military intelligence sources who confirmed the attack to newsman, the military base came under attacked by insurgents with heavy multiple gun trucks and burned down some buildings belonging to the soldiers and military operational vehicles were burned in the recent attack.
“Apart from the dead bodies recovered, many other soldiers were seriously injured while a yet-to-be ascertained number of personnel were still missing as of Saturday”, our source said.
Security source confirmed that one of the commanding officer of the battalion, two senior officers, including the base male medical director, were among those killed.
“25 Taskforce Brigade was attacked during the weekend with so many casualties. So far, we have recovered over seven bodies. The terror group invaded the camp FOB Sabon Gari around 4:am on Saturday, using various weapons”, the sources said.
Our correspondent recalls that some SWAP and Boko Haram terrorists killed over 20 fishermen at Gadan Gari fishing community in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State last Wednesday.
