Agency Report

Yobe State Police Command rescued a toddler from kidnappers den.

This is in addition to arresting the kidnappers gang leader.

This was disclosed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim in a statement issued yesterday.

According to the statement, the criminals invaded Bungai village, Buni Yadi, Gujba Local Government Area on May 12 at about 1pm shooting sporadically before forcefully whisking away the toddler, Adamu Sani, aged three to an unknown destination.

“In the course of intensive intelligence-led operations in collaboration with a vigilante group, the kidnappers den was discovered in Buni Yadi town. The operatives  aggressively raided the enclave, where the gang leader, Yau Usman was arrested in custody of the toddler, whilst other members fled, even as the command is in prompt pursuit,” the statement added.

It said the rescued victim was taken to the hospital for medical checkup before reuniting him with his parents, while the suspect has been relocated to the state CID for discrete investigation, swift arrest of the fleeing culprits and subsequent prosecution.

“In this regard, the Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, enjoined members of the public to remain proactive, vigilant and report suspicious movement of criminal elements, criminals identified hideout and miscreants to the nearest police station,” the statement appealed.
