Delta State Police Command has arrested multiple suspects and recovered dangerous weapons in a series of operations conducted on January 17 and 18.

This was contained in a statement signed by the  Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, at the command’s headquarters in Asaba, on Wednesday.

According to Edafe, operatives of  Rapid Response Squad flagged down a tricycle on Ibusa Road.

This led to the uncovering of two rounds of 9mm live ammunition from the two occupants – Ogochukwu Stephen (25) and Christian Emmanuel (24).

Further investigation led to a raid of their premises where two fabricated Beretta pistols and an improvised gun were recovered.

In a related case, acting on a tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, of Agbarho Division led a raid on the residence of  Eriga Enyuche (40), where a G3 rifle, a pump-action gun, and a cutlass were discovered hidden in his ceiling.

In a similar event in Bomadi, officers during a joint operation with local vigilantes apprehended  Felix Emizibo (29), a suspected cultist, recovering a fabricated Beretta pistol reportedly purchased for N150,000 from his uncle.

The Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda praised the officers for their dedication in ensuring that Delta State remains safe, reiterating his commitment to make Deltans “sleep with their two eyes closed.”

He urged the public to provide credible information to aid the police in combating crime.

Investigations into these cases are ongoing.
