Director-General of Nigerian Technical Aid Corps, NTAC, Yusuf Yakub, has urged Nigerians to pay attention to the 4-D Foreign Policy initiative of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He made the call in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Nkem Anyata-Lafia, yesterday in Abuja to mark Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
He noted that the 4-D Foreign Policy Initiative (The Tinubu Doctrine) affects the national life of all Nigerians.
The former federal lawmaker, in a congratulatory message to Mr President and all Nigerians, said ‘The Tinubu Doctrine’ remains a pillar upon which the ‘Nigerian Dream’ is hoisted.
He said “I wish to take this moment to congratulate President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, president of the Senate ,Mr Speaker and, indeed, all Nigerians on this auspicious occasion of the 25th anniversary of our return to democratic governance and the commemoration of the diverse sacrifices made in realising same, as symbolised by the election of June 12,1993 when Nigerians without consideration of any of our nation’s dividing fault lines spoke with a unified voice with the ballot box.
“Indeed, for us as a nation, the journey these past 25 years has been fraught with life’s usual vicissitudes. In these years ,we have fallen and risen on our feet. But what is important is that we are still here; still moving and hoping.
“However, the greatest lesson of this all is that democracy is not a destination, but a journey. Today, the Tinubu administration has set a direction for our country with commitment to democratic ethos as one of its integral components. The 4-D Foreign Policy Objective sets up special interests and consideration of major areas like Democracy, Development, Demography and Diaspora as socio-economic and political pillars upon which to hoist the Nigerian Dream in pursuit of the nation of our dreams in the years ahead.”
The statement said “I, therefore, take the liberty of today’s occasion to challenge us to take a look at this doctrine and urge all Nigerians to key into that all-encompassing doctrine as we move past this first quarter of uninterrupted democratic experience in our country.
“Today is another opportunity to reflect on how far we have come through this path called democracy and take stock of what we need to do in order to forge ahead on the journey that lies ahead of us as a nation bound by a common destiny under God.”
