Ahead of the reconstitution of the new State Executive Council, SEC, the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, in Akwa Ibom State, has reminded Governor Umo Eno to remember his vow to run an all inclusive government devoid of political party sentiments.

The Governor had last week sent packing the old SEC members he inherited from his predecessor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, since his inauguration on May 29, 2023, vowing not to succumb to pressure from any quarters to accept any candidate to be imposed on him by politicians and friends of government.

But the opposition APGA, has impressed it on him to remember his pledge of commitment to inclusive governance as he begins the reconstitution of his cabinet following the recent dissolution of the former Exco.

Speaking on behalf of his party, the state Chairman of APGA, Elder Umoudi Etukudo Essien, lauded the governor’s efforts in running an administration he described as reflecting the diversity of Akwa Ibom state.

“APGA expressed optimism about the governor’s dedication to fostering unity and collaboration across political divides, and it is a commendable approach to governance”, he added.

Highlighting the party’s readiness to support the government’s developmental agenda, Elder Essien stressed that “APGA is proud to have within its ranks individuals of integrity, capacity, and competence who are eager to contribute to the realisation of the governor’s Arise Agenda”.

The agenda, according to him, focuses on key areas such as agricultural productivity, rural development, infrastructural renewal, social inclusivity, and economic empowerment.

He said: “As a political party committed to the progress and prosperity of Akwa Ibom state, we reiterate our readiness to support the government of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, in achieving the laudable objectives of the Arise Agenda”.

Therefore, on behalf of his party, he urged the Governor to extend his inclusive governance approach by appointing individuals across partisan lines into the new cabinet.

“APGA believes such appointments will strengthen unity among political stakeholders in the state and reinforce a government that represents the interests of all Akwa Ibom people”, he stressed.

The party assured the Governor of APGA’s unwavering support, emphasising the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable development and delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

“APGA pledges to work with the government in building a prosperous and inclusive Akwa Ibom state, Essien assured.
