Date:

From CHARLES ONYEKWERE

Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP, has announced Hon. Goodluck Chidiebere Egwu, the Zonal Youth Leader, as its nominee for South-east National Vice Chairman, replacing the expelled Ali Odefa.

This decision, endorsed by top party leaders, has drawn significant attention as the PDP seeks to strengthen its leadership in the region.

In a letter addressed to Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Illiya Damagum and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Senator Adolphus Wabara, the party justified its decision, citing Odefa’s expulsion over alleged anti-party activities.

The move follows a Federal High Court ruling in Abakaliki, which upheld Odefa’s suspension by the PDP Ward Executive in Oguduokwor, Onicha Local Government Area.

The Oguduokwor Ward Disciplinary Committee, after reviewing allegations against Odefa, recommended his expulsion, which was formalized on December 12, 2024.

PDP executives at both state and local levels unanimously supported the decision, signaling a united front in rebuilding the party’s Southeast leadership.

The letter nominating Egwu was signed by prominent figures, including Chief Onwe S. Onwe, former Acting National Secretary; Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu, the 2023 Deputy Governorship Candidate; Chief John Igboke, former Deputy National Youth Leader; Chief Paul Okorie, a former governorship aspirant; and Chief Austin Edeze, who served as the Director General of the 2023 PDP Governorship Campaign Council. All National Assembly and House of Assembly candidates from the 2023 general elections also endorsed the decision.

Egwu’s nomination has been formally submitted to key party leaders, including the Acting National Chairman, the National Secretary, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.
